Magazine Front Cover Final
This is the final version of my film magazine front cover. The only difference compared to the last edit is that the background has been blurred slightly in order to bring the main image forward. Overall it's a decent outcome.

Film Poster Final
This is the final outcome of my film poster. Everything has pretty much stayed the same compared to the last edit. The main differences are the change in layout, which spreads the quotes and awards out meaning it doesn't appear as cluttered towards the bottom. Then there is the text/subheading to the film poster "ONE SACRIFICE UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES" I wanted something short and snappy that was easily recognisable when heard and not giving the reader too much to read when they see the poster. Other minor tweaks include the date at the bottom matching that of the movie title, the reason behind changing the font is because the font used before was not a font I frequently used through my ancillary texts and main product therefore it stood out too much. Now the date feels apart of the final product. Altogether I am happy with where my poster has ended up compared to where I was when I began creating it.

Audience Feedback Questionnaire
In order to get some decent audience feedback I have compiled a questionnaire for several people to answer. This will help me with my evaluation and determine whether or not what I have created has had a positive outcome.

Film Poster, almost finished.
I decided to change the main image for the film poster as I felt the emotion on the characters face did not portray the mood of the film and looked too negative for anyone to want to be interested in it. As for the background issue I have blurred it in order to make the front image stand out. As for the other pictures of the protagonist, changing the opacity has shown the different stages of the character in the movie. They are not the main images but still add to it dramatically, without them the poster would look empty and there would be no progression from one to the other thus leaving no sense of enigma for the audience to think "how did he go from that, to that?"
It is definitely on its way however I may want to think about changing the layout and possibly some of the text on the poster, that way I can have a more filled out poster that looks more believable as an actual product.

10 Second Trailer
The 10 second trailer surprisingly proved to be quite difficult because there is such a small time limit it left me using hardly any of the main narrative. However, I chose to use the drinking scene for my 10 seconds trailer because, as bad as it may sound, since my trailer is aimed at an audience aged between 15 - 18 I figured I would use the vibrant drinking montage to grab their attention and highlight something they may be interested in. The editing techniques used are same as that used in the main trailer, therefore there is reference to the full thing but this particular part of the narrative is a big moment that the fans will look forward to watching.

Final tweaked version, complete trailer!
The trailer is finally complete! Compared to last time I have altered the sound slightly although I don't think there is much of a difference and the final scene has been updated a little more. I gained inspiration to use a black and white effect on some of the clips from when I edited my 30 seconds trailer. This shows how what he is seeing is a flashback. Other effects such as 'ghosting' has been added to the drinking scenes and the final scene. This is to imitate the idea that the protagonist is under the influence and is able to move straight let alone think straight. The trailer has taken some time to get to this point and I believe with extra footage and more time dedicated to it I would have been able to create something more impressive, however I am still pleased with what I have done.

30 Second Film Trailer
Another part of our brief was to make not only a 1:30mins trailer but also a 30 seconds and a 10 seconds trailer. This is my 30 seconds and it uses a lot of the same features and sequence as the 1:30 mins trailer but it is a little more condensed. I am quite happy with how this has turned out because it quickly gets the main points of the film in, in the short space of time given.

Film Poster Tweaked Version.
I decided to enlarge my images of my front cover and it seems to have made some improvement but not a lot. Yet again, a problem with the background, similar to that of the film magazine, is that it looks too sharp and it not making the main images stand out enough. Before I create a finished product this is an issue that needs addressing.

Film Magazine More Developed Draft!
The magazine is beginning to look more like a finished product. When asking for feedback I was made aware that the background is too sharp for the magazine and it is making it seem like that is the main image, this maybe a reason as to why the actual main image is not looking quite as smooth as it could.
The text and coverlines have improved, they are much easier to read now and are of a font that is not plain and boring and is one that can also be featured on my poster. The masthead has changed again however this time I am going to stick with it. The reason being is because although there is nothing much to it, it looks a lot more appealing than simple 'Arial' font in plain black. It also shows recognition from mastheads such as 'Empire' where there is nothing much to it but it's still effective.

Film Poster Second Draft
Compared to the last attempt at a film poster, this one has altered quite a fair bit. The images before did not work very well, so I have used the new set of images to allow me to make a more refined poster. The post still feels empty as though there isn't enough there. The actor in the poster needs to be enlarged as well as the text needs to be easier to read. A lot of work is still required.

Film Magazine Front Cover
Here we have a newer version of the film magazine. The basic layout, house style and general look of the magazine has stayed the same however, the font has changed in order for the coverlines to be more eligible as well as the masthead. However, the coverlines are still not looking perfect and will still need tweaking, and as for the masthead, even though it is no longer of an abstract nature, it is too plain and really brings the rest of the magazine down. This will be something I have to work on. The main image works with the magazine however due to the original image not being the best of qualities and the airbrushing I have done it has left it looking a bit blurry.

Film Trailer 95% there.
After many edits my trailer is starting to look like a finished product! I am happy with how this is beginning to turn out. It is obvious there are still somethings that need tweaking in my trailer, the sound of the music is a little too loud for the dialogue and the ending when the protagonist is walking to the door needs to have something more to it to make it a little more appealing. Overall, it is on it's way and I am happy with it.

More developed trailer.
The trailer has not altered that much from my previous edit, I have simply returned to the original trailer and then added in the changes. Altogether it is look fairly promising, when I fill in the blanks and get the rest of my footage and text I can see this will be a decent outcome. However, I think I will pursue to develop the original therefore I have 2 alternate trailers, one that follows the narrative a little more and one that is more of a montage. The reason for that being is because I am getting mixed reviews for them both and therefore I will develop the two so that when it is finally a finished product I will know which one works best.

Alternate Introduction to Film Trailer
At the start of the trailer I have used the same narrative as the original however this time I have decided to add the lottery scene as well in order to create a more of a montage trailer rather than a 'short film-like' video. I believe it works in some ways however in my opinion I don't believe it fits together very well...

New Images
After getting feedback on my ancillary texts, it was made apparent to me that the images I have previously taken were not to a great standard due to them being fairly blurry. Therefore, I have taken a selection of new images that I hope will be more effective.

Film Poster First 'Draft'
This is my film poster so far. It has a lot more that needs adding such as the text stating the directors and producers etc. Also, an idea I have had for the film poster is to change the main front image to an image of the character before he became wealthy. The reason being is because it depicts the protagonist as being a normal youth before finally resulting into a complete wreck. By blurring the images in the background I have tried to create the effect of 'double sighted visions' as well as fast paced showing that these images are taken when under the influence.
The poster follows the same house-style as the magazine front cover, using the colours black, white and gold. The reason being is because I want the theme to be continuous throughout all my media texts. So far, the film poster is looking to be quite effective, I'm just in need of a little more material to work with.

Film Trailer Version 2
Here is a second version of my film trailer. I have changed the song choice in order to make it more fast paced and therefore create a more of a 'montage' rather than a straight forward narrative compared to the last film trailer. This is only the beginning and there is still footage that needs to be shot, hence the blanks. The video has not exported very well which is why the sound at the end has been cut short, however the main aspect of what I was trying to create is still apparent.

Film Magazine Second Draft!
Here is the second draft of my Film Magazine front cover. It is clear that a lot more has been added, such as the text. The skyline and teasing contents have stuck to the house-style and also added a lot more to the magazine for the audience to read into. The coverlines also help add to this however, on my front cover the cover lines are not amazingly eligible therefore I will have to alter that in some way. An edit I did from the last draft was the splash. By using a rectangle I can fill the space as well as enlarge the text making it more apparent.
So for, my magazine is working well, however the colours, although working together quite well, do not seem to be vibrant enough and it may appear that it is fairly bland. Possibly putting in much more brighter colours such as red could make a more positive outcome?

Film Magazine First 'Draft'
This is the first draft of my film magazine so far. There is obviously a fair amount missing such as coverlines and other text. However, as you can see I am following the house style with the colours black, white and gold. The splash next to the headline looks fairly blank and not that appealing, therefore at some point I will have to think about recreating that in some way. The masthead, although a decent idea, I feel as though it doesn't appear professional enough. For a first draft/guidelines towards a complete version I am fairly happy with it.
Looking at the background of the magazine, I have duplicated it and then used 'Image > Adjustements > Threshold' in order to create a rather graphic effect. This just make the front cover a little more appealing and also bring the main image forward.
Text Used on Film Magazine
This is the text I am using on my film magazine. The font I have used is similar to that found on the dollar bill, therefore this relates the film to money, along with the actual film title 'Inheritance.' Alongside this I have used a gold-like colour in order to resemble wealth. Black, white and gold will be the house-style of my magazine as in this issue it is based around money. The black and white make it more formal and appear 'upper class' but also the connotations of the black and white colours could show then when it comes to money you either have it or you don't.
Different Mastheads
For my film magazine front cover I needed a simple masthead that stood out, was eligible as well as being distinctive. Similar to that of Total Film magazine and Empire.
I took inspiration from the Total Film masthead and the way in which the word 'Total' is within the word 'Film. The reason being is because I thought this was unique and a creative way of designing mine. However, just to using a rather linear approach and creating my own font it had a very amateur effect and did not work so well. An extra aspect of my masthead I used was the striped part of a 'clapper' or 'clap board' (the board they 'clap' together when recording and shout "Scene 5 take 2")
The text I used looked too basic and with the stripe it did not quite look as professional as I'd have hoped. Therefore, I have changed to a basic golden text that I hope will create a professional outcome!

Photoshopping my images
These are a couple of attempts at Photoshopping my images in order to create a professional-like outcome when finalising my film magazine. In order to make my images more appealing I have had to remove spots/blemishes using the 'Spot Healing Brush Tool.' This allows me to begin making the image more appealing and 'polished.' Next, duplicating the skin I was able to blur using Filter>Gaussian Blur, this then created a more 'smooth' skin thus adding to the polished effect.
Other effects I have done is remove the red eye from the images and then manipulate the eyes into looking more blue. As well as this, an obvious aspect of the edited version is the background. By placing the main image on top of a background full of money it helps create a theme. Also, although not very visible, in the glasses of the first edit I have blended in money into the lenses of the glasses to make it appear as though that it was the character is looking at and more focused on.
Altogether I feel as though these are good starts for my film magazine. All that is left is to add the text, masthead and other conventions and hopefully I will have a professional looking piece.

Images for Ancillary Texts
Wednesday, 2 January 2013
Very Basic Film Magazine Layout
This is a very basic example of what the layout of my final ancillary text will follow. It has all the major conventions however when developing the main piece I will probably add a few more conventions such as a splash and obviously the barcode.
